I FINISHED THE BOOK!

I Finished The Book!

YAY! This last weekend I went away to a writer’s retreat with my boyfriend. We got a lot of writing done. I finished my book!! How exciting. There were moments when I thought it wasn’t possible. At times I swear it felt like a maze and to tell you the truth I would avoid mazes and puzzles as a child, because man they are difficult. Aren’t they? Or is it just me, who doesn’t like coming to a dead end on a maze (especially if it’s a real life maze and you are running through it trying to find the way out. I was in one in Montana last summer and it seriously took us 2 hours to get out of the maze… no lies. It’s truth.)

Or finding a puzzle piece that almost fits into the puzzle so I squeeze it in only to find out (or be told later by someone else that it doesn’t fit.)  Haha… thus is my life. but, yes I will get back on track. I really found that I enjoy my characters and when I have gotten to a dead end – I step back and bump into a character and they tell me something completely crazy that I didn’t know before. So I guess all pain is gain! :)

I still feel like there is a lot to do ahead of me. This week I am going to do the first run through edit – which I am raving about inside my head. And when I say raving about… I don’t mean that my thoughts are dancing and dancing to techno music with strobe lights radiating off all the walls. This rave is more on a frightening note. lol…

This is just a short update. What began over a year ago as another book ended in a first draft of 75,467 words. I am sure that it will grow as I edit. But Yes, I am so glad that a few months ago I decided to turn the book I was writing a year ago into a trilogy. Which this book I just finished is the first book. So, I had first been writing the 2nd book.

Hope you all have been great! I will update again soon. I am adding some pictures from the weekend at North Stradbroke Island. I will update with more as it was a beautiful Island, once I get Johan’s pics put on my computer. :)

At the Port waiting for the Ferry on the first day – November 23rd, 2012.

Awesome sign on our villa during the day.

Writer at work in the tropics. This place has really grown on me.

I am so blessed with this awesome man in my life. Thank you Jesus. <3

Postcard perfection…

Returning to the Port on the last day. Look at that glorious blue-green water! :) I got so many story and setting ideas from this weekend for the third book in the series that I am writing. :) November 25th, 2012.

MUCH THANKS…

I am attaching a thank you letter here.

I am so grateful and thankful for everyone that has been so encouraging for me during this whole writing process for my book.

  • Johan – The love of my life, I couldn’t have done it without your belief in me and the nudges along the way. (Ones that I needed!) I really look forward to going through the editing process with you. :) AND I love you, Greatly! :)
  • Momma & Daddy – You two have always stood next to me – telling me that I can achieve anything. And you two were right. Those stars were reachable. :) You two were the best parents in the world and are still the best! :)
  • Cassidy & Tony – Cassidy thank you for your help and ideas when I am writing or brainstorming. And Tony, thanks for always reading my books – it’s so encouraging to actually see the biggest book worm in the world interested in my stories. :) You two are amazing! :)
  • Grandma Doris & Grandpa Beuford –  Grandma your stories were one of the reasons that I wanted to be a story-teller and you always encouraged me to write. Grandpa Beuford, I never got to know you because you went before I was born, but I found a great delight in going through your and grandma’s love letters from the Great Depression along with your stories that you had written and placed in that black wooden box. :) I love you both even though you are not on earth any longer. You have placed a footprint on my heart that will never disappear.
  • Grandpa Dennis & Grandma Ruby – Grandpa, you and grandma were always encouraging with my petal girl stories. :) I greatly miss you. Grandma thank you for always encouraging me as a writer. :) love you!
  • My Dear Lord Jesus, that deserves praise for the story that I just finished. I actually recieved the idea of this book from him in a dream. It was exciting. I will be sure to blog on this at a later time so that you all know how this story came about.
  • ALL OF YOU – It means so much to me to have a following on here. To know that 115 people are following my blog and adventures is such a great pleasure and surprise to me. I guess one may think their life isn’t so interesting that people would want to read about it. But I am so happy you are all here. If you weren’t it wouldn’t be as fun. I hope you all enjoy my blog and it means so much to have you visit. :)

Speak Again Soon! :)

The Judgement & Wrath of Tom

The Judgment & Wrath of Tom*

How do you deal with mean people?

I am not a fan of mean people! But, who is? Have you ever been at the brunt of a mean person’s name calling?
It’s just one think I really do not quite understand. Why are some people mean?

just recently I had a run in with someone and they were completely rude and mean. I didn’t even say anything in order to get treated that way.

Writing Groups, Pray, NaNoWrimo & Love

Hello Everyone, How have you all been? This will be a quick post because it is currently 1:30am here… I just wanted to say that I finally caught up on my word count today for my NaNoWrimo Novel… oh man, I am sure half of it will need to be edited. Am I thankful though that you are allowed to write a crappy first draft! Thank goodness! :)

I joined a writing group here in Brisbane and absolutely love it. It’s the best writing group I have been a part of… well, it’s the only constant writing group I’ve been a part of and by constant I mean that they meet every week. I got a brilliant idea for a new story this wednesday when we did a writing prompt! I loved the free-flowing feeling I got from just writing and creating something from something so random.

Also I am planning on doing some research this week on writing fight scenes… I am horrible at it and there are a few of my characters who will need to fight some… this is a random thought, but I thought I would share it with you all.

Also as I am sure the whole world knows that Obama got re-elected as president again for 4 more years. I am not happy about that at all, but I will remain positive because my God is greater than all the problems combined in the world. That also means that God is bigger and wiser and way better than Obama. God  knows how to run the world and take care of us amidst anything and everything, so I will trust in him (In God We Trust)… I know America will have a Great Awakening soon! Watch these two videos… they are awesome… This song is called the Great Awakening and is sung by Leeland! :) I really like Leeland!

This is my cry and prayer for my lovely country, America and that American’s eyes will be opened to this too. :)

Much love to you all,

I will update you all very soon on other things! :)

~ Updated Pitch for Critique ~

Hello Everyone,
I am taking part in a Pitch Contest!

I recently posted my pitch up yesterday to be critiqued and I got a few suggestions and such for edits. I went through them and worked on the pitch some more. I narrowed it down to one now… let me know what you think and if there are any other spots that I could improve it. Thank you,

Devin

Dustin starts training with his uncle to become a Preventer of sinister things, while a maleficent witch begins a revolt. The king fears for his daughter and unborn grandchildren’s lives so he calls upon Dustin to protect them as their hearts would complete the witch’s collection which is kept in her necklace – the mason of hearts, which would make her undefeatable.

Dustin is captured by a stranger with a dark secret – an affectionate bond forms between the two, and they must enter the witch’s game of hide-n-seek with life and death to protect the king’s grandchildren and to refresh the people’s lives or many will die, including him.

Critique My Pitch

I’m participating in a pitch contest! :) Whether you are a part of this contest or not please feel free to read it and let me know what you think about it! I have two listed below… they are both for the same story… so, let me know what you think… what you like… what you think works or what would work better! Thank you!

Dear Agent,

When an evil witch deceives young men and manipulates them to do her will, the king calls on Dustin. The talented young orphaned warrior sets out to protect the king’s unborn grand-children, whose hearts would make the witch undefeatable. On his journey to find the king’s daughter, he is kidnapped by a stranger with a dark secret and together they are thrown into a game of hide-n-seek with life and death to protect the king’s grand-children and restore the land and it’s people.

My young adult novel The Mason of Hearts, will appeal to readers of both fantasy and paranormal. I hold a B.A. in English/Mass Communications and a Certificate in Publishing. I have a good online presence and founded a writing blog for writers called Blue Monkey Writing and have also guest blogged for “Write It Sideways”, “Writing Forward”, and countless other writing blogs.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Introduction to my blog! :)

I decided to make an introduction video for my vlog. I have been hearing from a lot of writers that it’s a good thing to be on Youtube as well, so I am going to try my hand at Vlogging as well! Watch out for my next vlog – It will probably be on the outcome of NaNoWrimo! :)

P.S. Are you participating in NaNoWrimo (Nation Novel Writing Month)?? If so add me as a buddy on there. I am interested in doing some writing sprints with people. (A sprint is like a race to see how many words one can write in a given time like 30 minutes, or an hour.)

Also If you haven’t seen it. I was a guest blogger on writing blog Write It Sideways! Want to know how to boost your writing creativity with a camera? Check it out here!
