Packing… STILL…

Packing Still…

You know how they say you can learn a lot about a person by seeing what is in their locker? Or you can learn a lot about a woman by what she carries in her purse? That is a thought that came to me today while packing. Everything I pack has meaning. In each item a person could probably see that they are mine.

What about you?

Do the things you own radiate off of your personality?

But yes, I just thought I would share a few photos. Now, I am not a messy person – but if some of the photos seem crazy it is because it’s crazy to only be allowed to pack your life into two 50lb bags without exceeding the weight limit.

Packing these giants is a long process. Pack them and then weigh them. They weigh too much. REarrange things. Weigh AGAIN.

Packing these giants is a long process. Pack them and then weigh them. They weigh too much. REarrange things. Weigh AGAIN!!

What should I bring with me on my carry-on? AGH... troublesome thing to pack as well. Hehe... can you spot Lizzy?

What should I bring with me on my carry-on? AGH… troublesome thing to pack as well. Hehe… can you spot Lizzy?

I know that most people wouldn’t want to show their packing process… but I just thought… since you all are close friends and all I wanted to show you everything that I am experiencing. And part of that is the expat life I have been living.

Once back in America, I will start doing a daily goal of writing a short story everyday. I think it will be an exciting journey.

I will EDIT… Further on The Mason of Hearts… Yes, I said it…

Then as I do that I will also work on putting together a Query letter to send in to an agent. How exciting, right? I am kind of scared actually. But, it will be interesting none the less. I will let you tag along on my journey to finding an agent.

How about you? If you look around your room, car, house, locker, purse, or backpack… could a stranger look at all of those items and come up with a clue on what sort of person you are?

December – The Month of Packing

December – The Month of Packing

Have you ever seen the movie Groundhogs Day? Where Bill Murray’s character had to keep replaying one day over and over until he got it right? Yeah, and it happened to be Groundhogs Day (that is kind of given away in the title.)

But anyways, I sort of feel like December has been a Groundhogs Day of it’s own in a way.

“Why?” You ask?

Well, it seems it’s been a month of packing. Rolling and squeezing things into tight places like containers, trailers, post boxes, and now suitcases. Yep, I decided to write a blog post instead of starting my packing just yet. If you would like to look at my Journey to Perth and back again check it out here.

There is just something omnious about an empty suitcase. You know what I mean? I mean it’s empty. It hasn’t been filled yet.

An empty suitcase could bring you anywhere.

I suppose you could even compare it to a New Year. It hasn’t been filled yet. Maybe that is what scares me. It seems that is always what has scared me the most in my life. The Unknown…

2013 holds a lot of unknown stuff for me. I will be going back to the States on the 9th of January. There are a few things I am scared about. Right now, I don’t have a job and I want to find something where I could start supporting myself completely. And I don’t know where I will search. Right now the whole map of the United States is open for consideration. which is a bit scary as well, because it’s a huge country. I recently got used to calling Brisbane home, and used to having my boyfriend only a few miles away.

What are you packing?

What are you packing in your suitcase for the New Year? Here is my to pack list.

  1. Faith GPS – Faith is an important one. It’s so important to have someone who knows where to go and when you should turn left or right. And I know Jesus knows which way I need to turn. So, I am definitely inviting him on my New Year Trip. And I need to continue to trust that he has it all planned out and that I just need to sit back and relax… he is the Mason of my heart and he knows what I want.
  2. Love –  “To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides.” – David Viscott.
I find love to be extremely important. I definitely wouldn’t be the same girl today if I hadn’t met Johan. I am so happy to be with him. (I really wish I could just throw him into my suitcase.) lol… but since I can’t do that. I will put him in my New Years Suitcase and dream for the future. We will find a way. Love always does.
  3. Universal Resume/Application – For any business people interested in hiring me… this is just a metaphorical resume and application. I want to be prepared and will pack the determination and oomph to get a good job.
  4. Tennis Shoes – For maintaining my health. That is something that has been made even clearer to me lately.
  5. Notebook – To write in.

Well, I believe I have spent enough time thinking about this for now. I am going to start in my closet to figure out what I want to keep and throw. I will let you know if I have an adventure in Narnia.

I pray you all have a wonderful New Year and that God greatly blesses each of you with health and great happiness.

So, then… what about you? What are you going to pack in the Metaphorical suitcase so you are ready for the New Year?

Hello Everyone, I just wanted you all to know I am starting my first edit of “The Mason Of Hearts”! I am totally excited about finishing this edit, because then Johan and I are going to go and get it printed. I will have an easier time believing that I finished the book, when I actually have the print out in my hands! Then we will be taking off to Perth, Western Australia in a few days (either Thursday or Saturday). It shall be interesting. While on that trip Johan and I will spend time doing the second edit. I am excited for Johan to actually read the whole book. :)

This is just a quick entry on here. I will post pictures of my editing process and also my journey with Johan to Perth. It will be fun!

Take a look at my website at If you want more updates on my journey towards publication then you can subscribe to updates from my webpage. Would love to have you join me.

Here are some pictures from the first day of moving stuff. Today is the 3rd day and the container is almost completely full.

Estelle and Johan pulling a Wardrobe into the container. It remains important that we can get to Narnia wherever one lives! hehe... :) This wardrobe was heavy.

Thank goodness for these wheely things! They save backs!

Me and the wardrobe.

Me and the wardrobe. And it doesn’t lead to Narnia! :( Wouldn’t it be cool if we could carry everything to the wardrobe and transport everything into the other house in Perth. Scientists need to look into this… I think it would change the packing and moving industry for the better. :)

By the way... I won! :D

By the way… I won! :D

I Finished The Book!

YAY! This last weekend I went away to a writer’s retreat with my boyfriend. We got a lot of writing done. I finished my book!! How exciting. There were moments when I thought it wasn’t possible. At times I swear it felt like a maze and to tell you the truth I would avoid mazes and puzzles as a child, because man they are difficult. Aren’t they? Or is it just me, who doesn’t like coming to a dead end on a maze (especially if it’s a real life maze and you are running through it trying to find the way out. I was in one in Montana last summer and it seriously took us 2 hours to get out of the maze… no lies. It’s truth.)

Or finding a puzzle piece that almost fits into the puzzle so I squeeze it in only to find out (or be told later by someone else that it doesn’t fit.)  Haha… thus is my life. but, yes I will get back on track. I really found that I enjoy my characters and when I have gotten to a dead end – I step back and bump into a character and they tell me something completely crazy that I didn’t know before. So I guess all pain is gain! :)

I still feel like there is a lot to do ahead of me. This week I am going to do the first run through edit – which I am raving about inside my head. And when I say raving about… I don’t mean that my thoughts are dancing and dancing to techno music with strobe lights radiating off all the walls. This rave is more on a frightening note. lol…

This is just a short update. What began over a year ago as another book ended in a first draft of 75,467 words. I am sure that it will grow as I edit. But Yes, I am so glad that a few months ago I decided to turn the book I was writing a year ago into a trilogy. Which this book I just finished is the first book. So, I had first been writing the 2nd book.

Hope you all have been great! I will update again soon. I am adding some pictures from the weekend at North Stradbroke Island. I will update with more as it was a beautiful Island, once I get Johan’s pics put on my computer. :)

At the Port waiting for the Ferry on the first day – November 23rd, 2012.

Awesome sign on our villa during the day.

Writer at work in the tropics. This place has really grown on me.

I am so blessed with this awesome man in my life. Thank you Jesus. <3

Postcard perfection…

Returning to the Port on the last day. Look at that glorious blue-green water! :) I got so many story and setting ideas from this weekend for the third book in the series that I am writing. :) November 25th, 2012.

I am attaching a thank you letter here.

I am so grateful and thankful for everyone that has been so encouraging for me during this whole writing process for my book.

  • Johan – The love of my life, I couldn’t have done it without your belief in me and the nudges along the way. (Ones that I needed!) I really look forward to going through the editing process with you. :) AND I love you, Greatly! :)
  • Momma & Daddy – You two have always stood next to me – telling me that I can achieve anything. And you two were right. Those stars were reachable. :) You two were the best parents in the world and are still the best! :)
  • Cassidy & Tony – Cassidy thank you for your help and ideas when I am writing or brainstorming. And Tony, thanks for always reading my books – it’s so encouraging to actually see the biggest book worm in the world interested in my stories. :) You two are amazing! :)
  • Grandma Doris & Grandpa Beuford –  Grandma your stories were one of the reasons that I wanted to be a story-teller and you always encouraged me to write. Grandpa Beuford, I never got to know you because you went before I was born, but I found a great delight in going through your and grandma’s love letters from the Great Depression along with your stories that you had written and placed in that black wooden box. :) I love you both even though you are not on earth any longer. You have placed a footprint on my heart that will never disappear.
  • Grandpa Dennis & Grandma Ruby – Grandpa, you and grandma were always encouraging with my petal girl stories. :) I greatly miss you. Grandma thank you for always encouraging me as a writer. :) love you!
  • My Dear Lord Jesus, that deserves praise for the story that I just finished. I actually recieved the idea of this book from him in a dream. It was exciting. I will be sure to blog on this at a later time so that you all know how this story came about.
  • ALL OF YOU – It means so much to me to have a following on here. To know that 115 people are following my blog and adventures is such a great pleasure and surprise to me. I guess one may think their life isn’t so interesting that people would want to read about it. But I am so happy you are all here. If you weren’t it wouldn’t be as fun. I hope you all enjoy my blog and it means so much to have you visit. :)

Speak Again Soon! :)

Writing Groups, Pray, NaNoWrimo & Love

Hello Everyone, How have you all been? This will be a quick post because it is currently 1:30am here… I just wanted to say that I finally caught up on my word count today for my NaNoWrimo Novel… oh man, I am sure half of it will need to be edited. Am I thankful though that you are allowed to write a crappy first draft! Thank goodness! :)

I joined a writing group here in Brisbane and absolutely love it. It’s the best writing group I have been a part of… well, it’s the only constant writing group I’ve been a part of and by constant I mean that they meet every week. I got a brilliant idea for a new story this wednesday when we did a writing prompt! I loved the free-flowing feeling I got from just writing and creating something from something so random.

Also I am planning on doing some research this week on writing fight scenes… I am horrible at it and there are a few of my characters who will need to fight some… this is a random thought, but I thought I would share it with you all.

Also as I am sure the whole world knows that Obama got re-elected as president again for 4 more years. I am not happy about that at all, but I will remain positive because my God is greater than all the problems combined in the world. That also means that God is bigger and wiser and way better than Obama. God  knows how to run the world and take care of us amidst anything and everything, so I will trust in him (In God We Trust)… I know America will have a Great Awakening soon! Watch these two videos… they are awesome… This song is called the Great Awakening and is sung by Leeland! :) I really like Leeland!

This is my cry and prayer for my lovely country, America and that American’s eyes will be opened to this too. :)

Much love to you all,

I will update you all very soon on other things! :)

Afraid of NaNo??

Lacock Abbey, I was excited to see that Harry Potter was shot here!

A scene from the cathedral in my novel. (I actually took this picture in England when I was there!)

Are You Afraid?

Earlier today I had to answer the question “What do you fear most with NaNoWrimo…”. My answer about then was something like “I am afraid I will never finish my novel.” and “Oh, that people wouldn’t enjoy it.” Or even “That my characters won’t be interesting enough!” Do you ever have answers like this floating around in your mind?

Most of us do!

Today I just wanted to leave you with a short blog entry. But not just with a short blog entry… below I have placed an inspirational quote and a few websites that I have found inspiration and helpful. They are super helpful especially for during NaNoWrimo.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

Need a timer to time writing sprints? Set it for 30 minutes to see how much you can write in that amount of time.

Are you writing a compilation of short stories during NaNo?

Want to know what will add extra words? *Couch* Deep Point Of View *Cough*

Not inspired?

Why you shouldn’t give up on your novel!!!

Be sure to get up and move! :)
